Using bingo as a fundraising activity proved to be beneficial for a village hall in Branscombe, as the activity helped raise money for a new roof, reports the Sidmouth Herald.
A Christmas Bingo Extravaganza was held on December 10th by the hall to raise money for the Village Hall Roof Fund.
In total £500 was raised towards the work and Paul Haines, chairman of the Village Hall Fundraising Committee, stated that the bingo was played with a unique twist.
He told the newspaper: "The bingo went well, a Christmas variation being that winners of each house had to pull a party popper instead of calling out."
Among the prizes won by players was a turkey for a Christmas dinner, biscuits and tins of sweets.
A bar, crackers and mince pies also helped players get into the festive mood.
Non-league football team Taunton Town are also turning their attentions towards setting up bingo game playing evenings as a way of overcoming a cash crisis, the Somerset County Gazette recently reported.
