A bingo game play facility in Bracknell, which is regularly visited by Barack Obama's mum Kezia, is on the verge of closure unless the government speeds up and amends the law, reports Get Bracknell.
Point Bingo in Skimped Hill Lane is in "terrible trouble" after the government enforced the smoking ban and changes were made to the Gambling Act 2005.
Boss of the hall Jason Batup told Get Bracknell that two members of staff have had to be laid off while another two have left and not been replaced.
He said: "Bingo is in terrible trouble, not just in Bracknell, but nationwide. Government action has affected it badly.
"The smoking ban affected it but we support that for the obvious reasons. An anomaly in the new gambling act removed some of our most popular machines at a time when we were suffering anyway. We are desperate for help from the government to restore the anomaly they created."
Many bingo halls were forced to cut down the number of bingo slot machines they held in their facility because of a government restriction but last week sports minister Gerry Sutcliffe stated that these restrictions will be lifted.
