Winbonanza number 1 for Online Bingo UK A reprieve from the owners of the last remaining bingo hall in Harrogate has meant that the building is to be made smaller but not demolished, reports the Knaresborough Post.
It was initially planned that Lucky Numbers would be knocked down in its entirety and replaced by a block of ten flats.
However, owners Bartle Leisure Ltd has changed its plans.
Instead of ten flats, with parking, just a section of the hall will be used to create eight flats, with the remainder left available for a scaled down hall for people to play bingo in.
It was the involvement of local residents that helped to sway the decision, after many vented their sadness after the initial application of losing one of the area's best known landmarks.
Meanwhile, a different bingo hall in North Tyneside was recently left with a problematic sitation after an error from the local North Tyneside Council, the Journal reported.
Loyal players and staff at the Carlton Bingo were left confused after the council accidently implied that the site of the hall was for sale.
