A high number of female fans are helping online bingo to become the "fastest growing segment in the online gaming industry", according to an industry member.
Gigi Levy, chief executive of online bingo site owner 888, has stated that there continues to be a huge demand for online bingo because of the number of females playing bingo online.
According to the Daily Telegraph, he said that "the female segment has been under-served in online gaming" and that online bingo is picking up on this audience.
The paper adds that 95 per cent of those who opt to play bingo online are women and they have an average age of just under 35.
Also, Mr Levy is reported to have said that the appeal of bingo is that it provides a mix "of a game and a community", while those who attempt to win money online are not the same as those who regularly visit traditional bingo halls.
Hollie, a writer on the website unluckyforsome.co.uk, recently stated that television advertising has also played a pivotal role in increasing the number of people playing bingo online at the best bingo sites.
