Bingo has played a key role in helping pupils at a school in Wrexham raise the money required to finance a number of school trips, reports the Evening Leader.
Students from the Hafod-y-Wern school in the Welsh town have recently enjoyed a trip to a Cinderella rock and roll pantomime as part of the money raised.
Over £2,600 has currently been raised since September 2007 by the Friends of Hafod-y-Wern group, through activities including bingo, no-uniform days and school discos.
Simon Edwards, the school's headmaster, told the newspaper: "All the money we have raised since last year is being spent on the children.
"The children had lots of fun raising the money and they certainly enjoyed the show."
Tickets for the pantomime and travel to the Clwyd Theatre Cymru in Mold were paid for by the fundraising money.
By opting to play bingo, residents from Spalding, Lincolnshire, recently raised £6,500 for local organisations, including Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, the Spalding Times reported.
