A chance meeting at a bingo game helped inspire a Suffolk teenager to raise money for a girl suffering from a rare skin disorder, it has been revealed.
Shaun Bardell has taken part in a range of events to help raise funds for good causes in the past but after meeting relatives of eight year old Maya Felton when they went to play bingoat a local pub, the Evening Star reports he was inspired to go one step further.
Maya has Epidermolysis Bullosa Recessive Dystrophic Type 11, a condition which causes blisters to form all over the body.
It can also cause lesions to develop in the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach, a complication that means Maya has to be fed using a tube which goes directly into her stomach.
In a bid to help make her life easier, Mr Bardell decided to raise money for her by dressing up as a chicken and going to work on his bicycle.
He explained: "I saw the Maya's story in the paper and when some of her relatives came into the pub to play bingoI decided to raise some money for her.
"With Easter coming up soon, I thought I'd dress for the occasion."
His efforts raised £250 for Maya, although the Evening Star reports he was a little late for work.
