Bingo game play helps raise funds for community group

A radio station that only operates in the summer is to fund this year's broadcasts by encouraging locals to play bingo, it has been revealed.
The Southport Visitor reports that the town's community radio station will go live again at the end of June for 28 days but plans to launch its fundraising drive on March 9th by hosting an evening of bingo at Southport Football Club.
Bingo fans who participate will be helping ensure the station can continue to cover the big events in the area, with station chairman Jon Jessop telling the newspaper: "I want to be broadcasting for the start of Royal Birkdale, and we are also going to be covering the local cricket and hopefully the Tall Ships among other things."
Bingo game play events are popular ways for community groups to raise money, with the Hamilton Advertiser recently reporting that a bingo event helped Scottish charity Petal collect £1,170 as part of its efforts fund a counselling service for people who are suffering from trauma or loss.
