Bingo fans can witness first hand the potential problems with taking part in the activity outside the UK, as five players were arrested and fined in Turkey.
The six British holidaymakers were caught by Turkish police enjoying a game of bingo in a bar in Altinkum.
All of the men and women were released some hours later and received a £55 fine for taking part in the game, which is a form of unregulated gambling in the country and against the law.
The game had been set up to raise money for 60-year-old Ruby Myerscough, who moved to the area from Burnley and was diagnosed a few weeks ago with cancer.
Pauline Ellington, who has lived in Altinkum for three years, said: "I hope I don't get a criminal record for playing bingo. We have been hauled out of there as if we are common criminals."
Many people opt to choose bingo as a way of raising money for a suitable cause, with residents in Spalding, Lincolnshire, recently providing a number of organisations with a share of £6,500, Spalding Today reported.
