Bingo game play enthusiasts in Kidlington have raised £1,000 to help build a new cancer centre at a hospital, reports the Oxford Mail.
Players from Kidlington Charity Bingo Club, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, donated the money in support of an appeal looking to raise £2 million for the Oxford Cancer Centre at the Churchill Hospital.
The centre will cost around £109 million to build and local people can help do their bit to raise money by taking part in a fundraising walk later this year.
Barbara Hutt, 77, who is the bingo club treasurer, told the Oxford Mail: "We decided if we could do something it would be nice, because most people know someone who has had cancer or have had cancer themselves.
"A lot of friends of mine have had cancer and my mother and aunts and uncles died of cancer. It's something that touches everybody's lives."
A busy mother is to provide locals with the chance to play bingo as a way of raising money for four organisations who have played instrumental roles in helping her two-year-old son who has a heart condition, reports This is Lancashire.
