A grant from Birmingham International Airport has helped those that play bingo at a local day centre enjoy a much better Christmas.
The airport has donated £1,500 to the St Leonards Day Centre in Marston Green, which will help the elderly residents in a range of ways.
A new pa system will benefit those that wish to play bingo, while other residents will see the money spent in the acquisition of a state-of-the-art computer and replacement wheelchairs.
Rick Smallwood of St Leonards Day Centre said: "The money will allow us to replace wheelchairs, purchase a new computer with internet access and a pa system for bingo and quizzes, all of which we would have been unable to buy without the grant.
"With Christmas just round the corner it couldn't have been a better time for us to get the money to purchase this new equipment."
The money has come out of the airport's community trust fund, which has already supported in excess of 400 projects.
In a recent blog for Bingo Street, John Witherspoon stated that the tradition of bingo to give each number a creative name is a "cool idea" because it brings added fun to the game.
